NEWS RELEASE: Architectural Firm Announced for Bethany Project

(Calgary, July 21, 2011) Bethany Care Society is pleased to announce that BKDI has been chosen as the architectural and design firm for the new supportive living project, which will provide 100 new affordable supportive living spaces to meet the needs of seniors and adults with disabilities in Didsbury and area.

“We are excited to have BKDI as the primary consultants for this project in Didsbury. They are a well recognized firm with expertise and experience in developing seniors housing and care centres,” says Greer Black, President and CEO, Bethany Care Society. “Bethany went through an exhaustive selection process and we are looking forward to working with this architectural firm.”

We are fortunate to have worked on a number of long term care and supportive living centres for current and longstanding clients and we look forward, with enthusiasm, to working with the Bethany Care Society on their exciting new Supportive Living Project in Didsbury,” says Ross Roy, Director, BKDI Architects.

Bethany Care Society is firmly committed to the Didsbury Project and continues to work diligently with all parties involved in moving forward in having both operating agreements and funding agreements in place before construction begins. While these agreements are being finalized, design specifications and construction timelines are being completed. Bethany is also proceeding on land that was purchased and preliminary approvals for the project.  

A faith-based organization founded in 1945, Bethany Care Society is one of Western Canada’s largest voluntary, not-for-profit providers of health, housing and community services for seniors and persons with disabilities. The operations of Bethany Care Society cover the full range of continuing care, including long term care, supportive living and adult day support programs. Bethany also provides a range of community housing options with affordable rental and life lease suites for seniors, persons with disabilities and others.

Bethany currently provides care and housing for more than 1,500 residents, clients and tenants in the municipalities of Airdrie, Calgary, Cochrane, Red Deer, Sylvan Lake and High River. As well, Bethany promotes aging in place for over 4,000 Albertans through Bethany Lifeline, operated in partnership with Philips Lifeline.
