Today marks the kick-off for this year’s Calgary Corporate Challenge – one of North America’s largest annual amateur athletic events. Over the next two weeks, BKDI will be enjoying good-natured competition against 29 other companies in the blue division. Our staff have enthusiastically signed up to compete in 11 different events that are sure to challenge us both mentally and physically! While the plaques and trophies are the obvious goal, BKDI is looking forward to the true reward – further instilling company pride and strengthening inter-office relationships.
Each year, Calgary Corporate Challenge announces a theme for the September Games. When it comes to our our team shirts, BKDI tries to combine elements of our brand with the annual Corporate Challenge theme in a fun and creative design solution. This year's theme, Push Play, takes a musical twist aimed at turning up the volume and heating up the competition. Our Graphics team created a t-shirt design inspired by Survivor's famous 80’s song “Eye of the Tiger.” What really drove our concept was the appropriately worded lyric “risin' up to the challenge of our rival.” The colour scheme and font bring you back to the era of the song's popularity, while the speakers resemble high rise buildings, a visual we are all quite familiar with here at BKDI. This was not an easy task – successfully combining unrelated concepts.
So, come cheer on our fashionably dressed team September 9th to 24th. We are confident that Calgary Corporate Challenge 2011 will be a great success!
