Calgary Corporate Challenge Update: BKDI Wraps up the Games with Curling, Scavenger Hunt & Urban Orienteering!
Last Friday, BKDI’s team of five stormed the ice at the Huntington Hills Curling Club to put their skills to the test. While none of our team members were avid curlers, they all worked together and fought hard in their two games, taking pointers from some of the seasoned pros on the opposing teams. We were happy to see such great sportsmanship mixed in with friendly competition!
For the past two weeks the entire BKDI team has been searching their basements and attics in an attempt to gather a variety of Corporate Challenge themed Scavenger Hunt items. Although we did not find the “plastic cup/glass from Pink Floyd’s North American Tour,” we did manage to collect a plethora of other treasures. We were extremely shocked and amazed to learn of our Controller’s crafting abilities! Kristen ingeniously fabricated “a coat of many colours” (complete with pocket square!) out of party napkins! Along with all the Scavenger Hunt items, BKDI donated high demand items to the Inter-Faith Food Bank and a “Back to Work” pack for The Mustard Seed – the driving force behind our participation in this event.
Saturday, four of our team members navigated their way around the city for Urban Orienteering – an “Amazing Race” styled game. Using only their own two feet and Calgary Transit, the team split up into pairs while keeping constant communication with each other to reach the requisite destinations around Calgary. In the end, the team made it back to their designation with only two minutes to spare and did such a great job that they finished 3rd in the blue division! Way to go!
