Family Fun: Handcrafted Halloween Décor!

Halloween is almost here, so let’s deck the halls with haunted delights! Before you begin decorating your house, the best thing to do is establish a theme. Do you want your house to be cute and family-friendly, dark and spooky or perhaps you would prefer to decorate in a fall theme? Either way, just remember that you do not have to break the bank to get into the Halloween spirit! Creating your own decorations is not only a great way to save money, but also a fun-filled activity that you and your family can get involved in! BKDI has chosen some of our favourite homemade Halloween decorations to share with you that are sure to please monsters of all ages! Consider taking your décor to the next level by using dramatic lighting techniques, incorporating spooky music, and even a fog machine!


Photo One: Spider Pumpkin Tealight Holder

Approximate Time Required: 20 minutes each

Materials: Mini Pumpkin, Tea Light, Four Pipe Cleaners (cut in half)


Photo Two: Mummy Pumpkin

Approximate Time Required: 15 minutes

Materials: Mini Pumpkin, Gauze, Googly Eyes, Hot Glue Gun, Scissors


Photo Three: Milk Jug Ghosts

Approximate Time Required: 10 minutes per jug

Materials: Clean Plastic Milk Jug, Permanent Marker, Christmas Lights, Scissors


Photo Four: Bat Lamp

Approximate Time Required: 35 minutes

Materials: Lamp with Shade, Bat Shapes, Tape, Scissors / Small Utility Knife


Photo Five: Pumpkin Beverage Cooler

Approximate Time Required: 20 minutes

Materials: Half Pumpkin (cleaned out), Ice, Beverages
