BKDI Architects has proven itself to be an industry leader in Architecture, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, and Graphic Design.
BKDI will be taking some much needed and well deserved time off from December 22, 2012 to January 2, 2013. We look forward to coming back in the New Year well rested, re-energized and ready to take on all the great things that 2013 brings us.
One of BKDI’s Associates and Registered Architect, Marilee Sulewski, has been working extremely hard for a year and a half… and YES... she passed her exam with flying colours and she can now add the designation Project Management Professional to her impressive list of credentials! Congratulations, Marilee! A celebration lunch with Partner, Catherine Richardson, was held in the wine room at Escoba!
For a second year, a group of BKDI Team Members set out to participate in CBC’s Annual “Amble with Angus” in support of the Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank. The group met around 7:00am last Friday at Eau Claire Market to depart on their five kilometre journey on the Bow River Pathway. The mild December weather was something to cheer about as it allowed for plenty of enthusiasm from the runners and the supporters. The participants enjoyed the challenge and were able to raise $390 for this worthy organization. Way to go Team!

This year marked milestones and accomplishments at BKDI. At our Christmas party last Saturday, our Partners recognized several admirable, hard-working individuals and we would like to share their successes with you!
The Partners were thrilled to announce five new promotions within the firm! These individuals have worked hard and have each made significant contributions to BKDI. Marilee Sulewski, Kristen Au, and Stephen Purdy were named as Associates and Diane Sawa and Svetozar Garnenkov as Senior Associates.

BKDI’s Toaster Award is given annually to a team member who has consistently produced the “perfect toast” (Click here to read the story behind our Toaster Award). Having so many quality team members to chose from, our Partners, yet again, had a difficult time choosing who would receive the award. We are proud to announce this year’s Toaster Award recipient – Rick Chow, Associate Director of Design – who is well deserving of this recognition.
Congratulations to you all! You’re Creativity, Capability, and Commitment is greatly valued and we look forward to many more years of success together!
BKDI’s “Design Matters” group was formed a few months ago from a discombobulated group of BKDI team members who are passionate about design. The group understands how important it is to always be in discussions about design – good or bad – as it is a great way for everyone to learn, have a chance to share their perspectives, and to stay on top of what’s going on. Through the growth of our group we have discovered that it has created awareness, strengthened teams, and has allowed the group to learn from one another.
So, the conversation continues… Earlier this week our Design Matters group headed off to Telus Spark for an evening of design collaboration and discussion. BKDI’s Office Manager, Nadine Roberts, and Controller, Kristen Au, joined the group as they want to learn about what matters with design. There was lots of conversation about this building… with a break in the Spark Café – all in all a successful night!
