Last Saturday, the BKDI Family and their loved ones headed to Banff for our Christmas party! It was a cozy evening filled with laughter as we nestled into the Buffalo Mountain Lodge. Everyone relaxed and enjoyed the gathering after their day of skiing, snowboarding, spa treatments, or walking around town. The event started out with appetizers and a brief presentation to recognize many accomplishments around the office. We ended the evening on a high note with some charity Christmas caroling. BKDI’s Partners generously put up a donation to be made to a deserving charity chosen by the brave souls who went up to sing a Christmas tune. Courtesy of our Partners, a donation of $2,500 will be going to the Canadian Cancer Society. There is no better gift than the gift of giving – and what a perfect time of year to do so!
Thank you to our Partners for giving us the opportunity to have such a wonderful celebration! We look forward to another successful year in 2013 and wish everyone and their loved ones a very happy holiday!

Designed by BKDI Architects and built by Graham construction, West 85th is an attractive contemporary design that keeps with the character of the area. Developed on a five acre parcel of land, West 85th is a first-class mixed-use development comprised of over 65,000 square feet of retail, commercial, and office space. Featuring a pleasant mix of materials and colours, the design incorporates strong horizontal elements punctuated by strategically placed vertical urban design elements. The development integrates ample pedestrian space and a feature plaza facing the main street.
Phase One of this project, which is now complete, consists of three one-storey commercial retail buildings with potential for mezzanines. Tenant fit out is complete with 100% of tenants occupied. Tenants include a financial institution, ice cream shop, nail salon, and a wine and tapas bar, among many others.
Now underway is Phase Two which consists of an office building, which will house a large daycare facility and includes 80 underground parking stalls.
On the horizon for this project is the completion of the structural framing for the exterior walls up to Penthouse levels, and installations of mechanical and electrical equipment. Construction of the roof and windows up to the 3rd floor will be commencing this week with the exterior finishes anticipated to start early in January. The base building completion is scheduled for late spring.

It was a holly, jolly Christmas filled day yesterday with BKDI’s Ugly Christmas Sweater Day, Cookie Exchange, and Secret Santa meets Parcel Pass! The day started off as a hit with the ugly sweaters as this was not only a wonderful sight for the eyes but the ears too! Bells and tinsel, bows and stockings; these sweaters were a fun and festive way to lighten the mood around the office as we all reminisced about the ‘wonderful’ sweaters we all received as kids.
As the day continued, employees gathered around the yuletide log to exchange delicious homemade goodies and participate in a festive gift exchange.
We work hard, but we also play hard; what a great way to brighten the office with some Christmas cheer!
